ECSF trustee Joanna Leiserson outlining sources for rooting community ministry in faith, Cincinnati regional workshop, 2011. Sharing What Works As the diocese’s consulting team for community ministry, we’re continually networking with local churches and local and statewide non-profits to learn about current needs and relay news of creative and effective responses. You’ll see this reflected in community ministry reporting and action alerts in Interchange and the diocese’s E-News Connections. Responding to the severity of the ongoing recession in Ohio and the sharp drop in human services funding throughout the state, ECSF’s board significantly changed grants guidelines to encourage churches to work smart. This includes the discipline of asking those in need what help would be most practical and timely, building alliances with the wider community, and rooting the goals for community ministry in study of God’s intentions for human well-being as conveyed in Scripture.
